With this being Super Bowl weekend, I thought I would post something about the benefits NFL players are seeing with chiropractic care. Every NFL team has a chiropractor on staff, and for good reason. If you just think about the wear and tear their body’s go through on a daily basis, especially during the season, it is easy to why chiropractic care would be so important and helpful for them. The game is as rough as it has ever been and staying healthy is one of a player’s biggest priorities. Chiropractors help them achieve this.
The average pro football chiropractor renders 30 to 50 treatments per week during the season. And that’s just the regular season which doesn’t include the offseason camps, pre-season games and post season. The chiropractic model is becoming more recognized and understood in that it is more important to fix the problem instead of just covering it up with drugs. We’ve all seen the movies where a player gets hurt and they take him in to a back room and give him a shot to dull the pain so he can keep playing. It’s probably not too far off from reality, however, players, agents, coaches, athletic trainers, and medical doctors are realizing the consequences of disabling the pain mechanism and have come to align themselves with the chiropractic perspective — treat the cause of the pain.
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay quarterback and one of the best in the NFL, can attest to the benefits of chiropractic care for football players, that’s because his father is one. Dr. Ed Rodgers practices in California. Many other elite football players have also acknowledged the importance chiropractic care in their careers including Jerry Rice who even became a spokesperson for the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress. I know from personal experience that had it not been for the chiropractic care I received in high school, I would be in pretty bad shape today. I was extremely lucky to have a father who was a chiropractor when I was playing football. Now, I am in no way comparing my high school football days to the that of Aaron Rodgers but I do understand the importance of chiropractic care when you are involved in a such physical sport like football.
